The Greene County volleyball team moved to 6-3 in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference with a win over South Hamilton in Jewell on Oct. 14.
The Rams and the Hawks played five sets, with scores 25-22, 25-27, 25-20, 20-25 and 15-8. Leads traded often throughout the match, but in the final set, the Rams put up eight consecutive points to end play.
Senior Stacy Mears was 21 of 23 serving. Senior Bailey Godwin was 19 for 19 with one ace and senior Emma Saddoris was 18 for 18. Godwin had 29 assists, with senior Mollie Sorber having 22 assists. Mears led in kills with 14, while senior Nicole Kuhl had 13 and sophomore Nadia Fisher had 11. Senior Marissa Promes had 18 digs and Saddoris had 16.
The Rams will finish no worse than tied for fourth place in the HOIAC, depending on how other conference schools finish their seasons.
The Rams are 13-12 overall. They will play primarily class 5A teams and the Johnston tournament Saturday, and then finish their regular season Monday at home vs 4A Perry.
